OUR STORY

Imiso Ceramics is a high-end brand of contemporary hand-crafted ceramic art, specialising in collectable once-off pieces created by award-winning ceramist team Andile Dyalvane and Zizipho Poswa. Imiso Ceramics Gallery and Studio is situated at The Old Biscuit Mill amidst the warm creative buzz of Woodstock, Cape Town, South Africa.

‘IMISO’ is derived from the Xhosa word ‘NGOMSO’ meaning ‘Tomorrow’ or contextually ‘the future’. We think of it as plural and have assigned our ethos for ‘Better tomorrows for future generations’ to its meaning, found and lived in the stories we tell through our work.

Established in 2005 and owned by Artist duo, Zizipho Poswa and Andile Dyalvane who collectively have over two decades of experience in the art and creative design fields.

“To offer our clients an authentic, timeless, one-of-a-kind, collectable ceramic artwork that begins to collaborate with them, inspires us to keep doing what we do”, they warmly state. Every piece is carefully handmade and special attention to detail, while equally embracing the natural imperfections of handwork shows this very authenticity they speak of. Each piece is signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity to affirm these efforts.  IMISO employs a team of highly skilled artisanal assistants to create the best possible results within the studio production of their works. Imiso’s designs have earned a passionate following of international galleries, museums, boutique stores and a faithful patronage of collectors both locally and abroad.

Imiso Ceramics is called to the vision of further becoming a creative brand that reflects the wealth of African cultures and traditions. In so doing, sharing the beauty of each of their ceramic creations with you.
